7 Things to do when you arrive in Auckland as International Student (UoA)

As an International student, It will be quite new and confusing to know what tasks are to be done initially to ease your life in next coming days. I have gone through these processes and made a comprehensive guide to help you out.

1. Getting an NZ Sim card

Many International students prefer to bring their own country sim cards with international roaming packs activated! But still, they need to buy a new sim to use in this country for a lesser tariff. So the first thing to do is to buy a sim card at Airport as soon as you enter New Zealand.

What do you need?

a. Passport

b. Select the network provider - Spark, Skinny, 2degrees, Vodafone

c. Select the plan

2. Getting temporary accommodation

There are quite many options to choose from day hostels or Airbnb or hotels or etc.

3. Getting your Student ID

a. Fill the form online

b. Go to International Student Center and collect the ID card

4. Bank Account

a. you need address proof - Airbnb itinerary is enough

Note: The Bank statement will work as offical address proof

5. AT HOP Card

Can buy at any authorized AT Shops

Registering and Activation of Student Concession

1. Student ID

2. AT HOP card

3. Online Registration

4. Visit an Authorized AT Customer Service for activation

6. IRD - Inland revenue Department

a. PAN card

b. IRD application Form

c. Photo/Visit to NZ post

d. Mobile number and Email ID

e. Local address proof: Bank Statement as address proof

7. Getting Accommodation

a. TradeMe b. Facebook Market Place c. Network with people in the university
